Kevin LoveKevin Love is staying put. At least that’s the story for the moment.

A widely discussed deal that would send Love to the Golden State Warriors is “dead,” according to multiple reports Monday. The Warriors’ refusal to include Klay Thompson in the package with David Lee, Harrison Barnes and a first-round draft pick apparently scuttled the trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Love now is unlikely to be traded before Thursday’s NBA draft, longtime NBA columnist Ric Bucher reports. The Chicago Bulls and Denver Nuggets now move to the front in the race for Love, according to Baxter Holmes of The Boston Globe, although Chicago’s primary target is Carmelo Anthony.

It was unclear how the Boston Celtics’ offer of younger players and draft picks measured up with other trade proposals. Various reports have indicated the Timberwolves are looking for established players to help them win now, but other reports have disputed that notion.
