Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin is in the spotlight, but this time it isn’t for hockey or taking a fan on a sushi date. The NHL’s goal-scoring leader in 2013-14 can now cross off “starring in a pop music video” from his bucket list.
Russian singer Katyla Lel released her new music video”Пусть говорят” — which translates to “Let Them Talk” — on Tuesday featuring Ovi.
Ovechkin wasn’t asked to do very much in the video despite getting a lot of screen time. For the majority of all the weirdness, Ovechkin stands completely still with a blank expression on his face like a statue while Lel climbs over him seductively.
At the end, he is given a helmet, gloves and a stick in order to “shoot” computer-generated pucks into a net behind Lel. Apparently, the producers didn’t trust the Caps star enough to allow him to actually shoot at her.
While the overall feel of the video is very awkward, at least Ovechkin didn’t attempt to rap in this one.
