Patriots Do Little Things Right On Brian Tyms’ Crucial 43-Yard Touchdown

It’s no surprise that the New England Patriots’ recent success comes at a time when they’re starting to execute at a higher level.

Amid the team’s early-season offensive struggles, many wondered whether New England had enough weapons to consistently put points on the board. After hanging 43 and 37 points on the Buffalo Bills and Cincinniati Bengals, respectively, it’s clear the Patriots have figured out some things.

In reality, however, the roster hasn’t changed much. The players’ talent level hasn’t significantly increased. The big difference is in the details.

NESN analyst and former NFL linebacker Matt Chatham wrote Monday morning on his blog FootballByFootball.com that the difference between success and failure in the NFL is so small, which makes the details even more important.

“Conversely (and most importantly), perceived talent discrepancies in the NFL can be largely negated by the little details of execution in any play–both for and against you,” he wrote. “The difference between good and bad teams almost always boils down to these details that live outside of how ‘good’ or ‘bad’ a player or coach is. Adherence to the details that matter bring ya home a hero.”

That was no more clear than it was on Tom Brady’s 43-yard touchdown pass to Bryan Tyms in New England’s win over the Bills on Sunday.
