Chris Snee: Nick Mangold Deserves Game Ball For Defending QB Vs. Steelers

1415814886_jets.jpgThe New York Jets might have come away with a win Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but they were none too pleased following the game.

With the Jets lining up in the victory formation to seal their 20-13 victory, Steelers safety Mike Mitchell decided to make things interesting as he launched himself over the offensive line in an attempt to strip the ball from Michael Vick. Unfortunately for Mitchell, though, Jets center Nick Mangold wasn’t having any of the shenanigans and he promptly flipped and threw him to the ground.

The play was certainly reminiscent of an event that happened in a 2012 New York Giants-Tampa Bay Buccaneers game when Greg Schiano was at the helm of the Bucs. Much like the Jets, the Giants were enraged that Schiano & Co. would pull a stunt like that with the game essentially over.

Chris Snee, a former Giants All-Pro who was a part of the action and ensuing melee, wrote about the two incidents and what he believes should happen in regards to Mitchell and Mangold in his latest post for Football By Football.

“Mitchell (and only Mitchell) should get fined … unless of course, Mike Tomlin told Mitchell to perform the fly-by, then he should get fined too,” Snee writes. “Lastly, and most importantly, Nick Mangold should get a game ball. Congrats!”
