Jim Harbaugh is officially home.

The University of Michigan introduced the former Wolverine quarterback as its newest head coach Tuesday, and just like that, Harbaugh-mania reached new levels. For the first time in recent years, there is optimism heading into the 2015 football season, and even a former Notre Dame standout can admit that’s a good thing.

Ex-NFL quarterback Brady Quinn explains in his latest post for Football by Football what the Harbaugh signing means not just for Michigan, but for college football in general. Not only is Harbaugh a proven winner, but Quinn added that the best high school quarterbacks in the country will jump at the chance to play for him.

In addition, the Big Ten will “regain visibility,” while the Ohio State-Michigan matchup that has become so one-sided of late will once again be a matchup worth circling on the calendar.

“Harbaugh’s hire is not only a grand slam for Michigan, but for the Big Ten Conference. Harbaugh was on EVERYONE’s radar to be their next head coach — NFL or NCAA. His success at multiple levels indicates he’s a proven winner. His playing experience at both levels makes it easy for student-athletes to relate to, something rare in the head coaching profession.”
