It was only fitting that the biggest edition of the biggest NFL betting contest would have the biggest winning percentage in the history of the event.

A four-man team called CH Ballers destroyed the field of nearly 1,500 handicappers to win the Westgate SuperContest (formerly known as the LVH SuperContest and the Hilton SuperContest).

By hitting an incredible 76 percent over the season, the team earned $740,000 for their $1,500 entry fee. It was a record turnout for the de facto world championship of football betting and a record payout.

Justin Green, Andrew Leff, and a third team member who goes only by “Preston” are 2003 graduates of Campbell Hall High School in Los Angeles, hence the alias “CH Ballers.” The fourth member of the team has remained anonymous.

The previous record for accuracy was 60.5 percent set by San Souci in 2011. The previous high-water mark for winnings was last year?s $532,000, where 55-26-4 was the winning record.

Kelly Stewart, a member of a group of handicappers sponsored by OddsShark.com, pocketed $15,000 for winning the mini-contest with the best record over the final three weeks of the NFL season. She went 14-1.

The contest continues to trend upwards with the number of contestants and grand prize doubling in recent years.

CH Ballers member Andrew Leff said the group employed a team-based strategy of handicapping games, bringing many theories and picks to the table each week.

?When you?re handicapping by yourself, it?s hard to determine every single angle. And that?s why I think working as a group really helped us out because you might get hung up on a certain game where you think you love a game, but then you don?t factor in A, B or C,? he said in a Q&A session with OddsShark.com.
