For better or worse, it doesn’t sound like Wes Welker is ready to walk away from football just yet.

The Broncos wide receiver was considering retirement, according to a report last week from FOX Sports, but Welker told the Denver Post that he plans on playing next season.

“Just getting ready for 2015,” he told the newspaper via text message.

Welker also shot down the report about his possible retirement.

“Never came out of my mouth,” Welker said, according to the Post.

Welker has battled concussions during his two seasons with the Broncos after signing with them in 2013. He suffered his third documented concussion with Denver in the preseason and struggled to produce to the level expected.

Welker totaled just 464 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 2014. He’ll become a free agent in March.
