Carlos Carrasco is a lucky guy.

The Cleveland Indians pitcher got the scare of a lifetime Tuesday night against the Chicago White Sox. Carrasco left the game in the first inning after he was hit in the head with a line drive off the bat of White Sox outfielder Melky Cabrera.

Carrasco appeared to get lucky by putting his glove up just in time to make sure he didn’t take the full impact of the liner. Had he, it might have been a lot worse. He walked off the field on his own power, and Indians manager Terry Francona called it “miraculous” the injury wasn’t worse.

Carrasco suffered “only” a bruised jaw, and he’s expected to make his start, although he’ll be pushed back one day.
