The Atlanta Braves’ business model wasn’t too efficient Tuesday night.

The Braves played host to the Washington Nationals, who started a certain Dan Uggla at second base. Uggla had himself quite the game, clubbing a three-run homer in the ninth inning to lift the Nats to a 13-12 win at Turner Field.

So how will the 35-year-old be rewarded for his efforts? With a nice check from the team he just beat.

Uggla signed a five-year, $62 million contract with the Braves back in 2011. He was released in 2014 after three tough seasons and signed a minor-league contract with the Nationals in December, but Atlanta still is on the hook for the last year of Uggla’s contract. That’d be roughly $12.7 million in 2015, or about $78,000 per game.

So, the Braves basically paid Uggla $78,000 to beat them Tuesday night.

“I had a lot of great memories here,” Uggla said after the game, via The Associated Press. “Whatever the case is — everybody knows the story of how it’s gone the last couple of years — but that doesn’t take away from any of my good memories here.”

Especially that part where they’re still paying him millions of dollars.

Despite his monster game Tuesday, Uggla is hitting just .190 for Washington this season. At least it’s on another team’s dime.
