You can criticize LeBron James all you want, but don’t accuse him of lacking confidence.

The Cleveland Cavaliers superstar faced a barrage of questions Sunday night following his team’s 104-91 loss to the Golden State Warriors in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. So, James decided to get right to point.

Well, that settles that debate.

It’d be easy to rip LeBron for these comments (especially after a loss), as we doubt the all-time greats — Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, even Michael Jordan — would voice this opinion out loud, even if they believed it was true.

Yet it’s hard to argue he’s wrong. James has been on another planet this series, averaging 36.6 points, 12.4 rebounds and 8.8 assists. He’s scored 39 or more points in all but one game in the Finals, putting an entire team on his back in the absence of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love.

James will need to be the best player in the world if he hopes to save the Cavs, who are one loss away from extending their city’s 51-year title drought.

If anyone can lead Cleveland back from the brink, though, it’s the man who appears to be achieving the goal he set when he was just 16 years old.
