Even though Mike Napoli didn’t record a hit in his first game with the Texas Rangers after being traded, the first baseman played a crucial role for the Rangers in their 11-3 win over the Seattle Mariners in extra innings.

Napoli was 0-for-2 at the plate, but he drew a critical walk in the fourth inning. He later came around to score the Rangers’ third run of the inning on Chris Gimenez’s bases loaded walk.

Mitch Moreland later pinch hit for Napoli in the eighth inning.

This was Napoli’s first game with Texas after being traded by the Boston Red Sox on Friday. And by all accounts, it looks like it was a good start for Napoli and his new team.
