A shooting occurred Monday afternoon outside the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Fla., according to police.

A 29-year-old man “fixated” on a female wrestler was shot by a deputy, authorities said, according to WESH-TV in Orlando. The man was believed to have been armed with a knife and was shot after charging deputies who were responding to a trespassing call at the training facility around 1:30 p.m. ET, Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings told reporters.

The unidentified man was taken to a nearby hospital with a life-threatening gunshot wound. It was the third time in the last 30 days that deputies dealt with the individual, according to Demings.

WWE issued the following statement on the incident: “Unfortunately a deranged individual with no WWE affiliation, who had a court order prohibiting him from being on WWE property, was involved in an incident with an Orange County Sherriff’s deputy in the parking lot of the WWE Performance Center. We defer to the Orange County Sherriff’s department for further comment and information.”
