Ken Griffey Jr. is the best player in the history of the Seattle Mariners franchise, and his legacy with the team will be honored soon when his No. 24 is retired.

The ceremony will take place in August during a series against the Los Angeles Angels.

Griffey Jr. was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame earlier in the week, along with former New York Mets catcher Mike Piazza.

He spent 13 seasons with the Mariners, tallying a .292 batting average with 417 home runs and 1,216 RBIs.
