When the national soccer teams of Germany and Italy face off, the world pays attention.
Germany hosts Italy on Tuesday at Allianz Arena in Munich in an exhibition game between two powers of the soccer world. Germany, the reigning World Cup winner, seeks to rebound from its loss to England on Saturday in Berlin. Italy is coming off last Friday’s encouraging draw in Spain and hopes to make further progress ahead of this summer’s 2016 UEFA European Championship.
The teams drew 1-1 in November 2013 in Milan in their last meeting. Italy more famously trounced Germany in the semifinals of Euro 2012 in the previous encounter.
