Dan Phillips apparently was just too demanding about using Prince’s lyrics in the aftermath of the music icon’s sudden death.

Philips, a longtime sports anchor at Nashville, Tenn., station WZTV FOX-17 announced on Facebook on Saturday that he has been fired for his use of Prince lyrics during a broadcast on April 21 — the day the legendary singer died at age 57.

Philips said viewers and management complained about his Prince tribute.

And so ends Philips’ 10-year career at WZTV FOX-17.

Having watched the broadcast, do you think WZTV should have fired Philips? Vote now.
