David Ortiz Has The Best Reason Why Yankee Stadium Is His Favorite Road Park

David Ortiz has played in every Major League Baseball stadiumĀ over the course of his 20-year career, and it’s safe to say Fenway Park is his favorite.

But what park outside his home stadium does the Boston Red Sox slugger enjoy the most?

That was one question posed to Ortiz during his Facebook live chat with fans Tuesday for Fanatics, a sports apparel and merchandise company. Big Papi chose Yankee Stadium, and before you jump on him for praising the home of the rival New York Yankees, here’s his reasoning:

“I like playing in New York because I like when they get quiet.”

There’s no better response than that.

Ortiz is no stranger to making Yankees fans go silent, either. He’s a career .316 hitter at the old Yankee Stadium and blasted 16 home runs and 35 RBIs in 56 games at the House That Ruth Built before it was torn down in 2008. And those stats don’t include the postseason, where the 40-year-old slugger notched several clutch hits in Boston’s playoff battles with New York.

Ortiz touched on several other interesting topics during the 18-minute live chat, such as his memories of Kirby Puckett — who was his inspiration for wearingĀ No. 34 in Boston — his admiration for Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan and what his plans are for life after baseball.
