If You Haven’t Seen Anthony Rizzo’s Catch Yet, What Are You Waiting For?

Not even Steve Bartman could have stopped Anthony Rizzo on Tuesday night.

The Chicago Cubs first baseman made arguably the catch of the season in the second half of a doubleheader against the Milwaukee Brewers.

In the top of the fifth inning, Milwaukee’s Keon Broxton hit a high pop-up down the first base line that drifted toward the seats at Wrigley Field. Rizzo, however, chased it down and took a souvenir away from the Cubs faithful.

It’s too late for Rizzo to enter the balance beam competition at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, but maybe that catch alone should make him a top medal contender for 2020 in Tokyo.

“(Rizzo) stuck the landing,” Cubs pitcher Jason Hammel told reporters after the game, per The Associated Press. “It was a great dismount.”

It’s just the latest addition to the growing list of MVP credentials for Rizzo, who collected three hits over the two games. He’s now hitting .358 for August with one home run and six RBI, not to mention some obviously stellar defense.
