It didn’t take Brennan Williams long to realize his dream of signing with WWE.

WWE announced Monday it signed Williams to a contract. The 6-foot-7, 300-pound former NFL offensive tackle will immediately report to the WWE Performance Center to continue training.

Williams, selected in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft, began training for professional wrestling after the New England Patriots released him from the practice squad Oct. 22, 2015. He wrestled for Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling promotion in Houston under the name Marcellus Black.

Williams, 25, is a North Easton, Mass., graduate. He played high school football at Catholic Memorial before going on to the University of North Carolina. Williams’ father, Brent, played for the Patriots from 1986 to 1993. Brennan’s brother, Camren, is a first-year scout for the Patriots.

Williams told NESN of his desire to join the WWE in 2013.

Another Patriots offensive lineman-turned-pro wrestler, Quinn Ojinnaka, who performs as Moose, recently left Ring of Honor to join TNA.
