The Bruins rookie team topped the Toronto Maple Leafs rookie team, 6-5, in overtime on Monday to kick off the rookie camp short schedule with a win.

Team captain Zach Hamill, who was invited to play in the tournament only after 2009 first-round pick Jordan Caron was injured, led the team with four assists.

On the game-winning goal, Hamill picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone and fed Jamie Arniel for the clincher at 3:56 of the overtime period.

Jason Wilson, Levi Nelsen, Tyler Randell and Rob Kwiet also scored for Boston.

Three fights occurred in the game and the Bruins’ Max Sauve suffered a minor injury in the first period, forcing him to leave the game
and leaving his status for Wednesday’s game uncertain.
