Andy Wozniewski's stay with the Bruins was short-lived.

The defenseman, who was called up on Dec. 15 in light of injuries to Mark Stuart and Dennis Wideman, was assigned to Providence on Tuesday. The move was announced by Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli.

Wozniewski played in two games against Chicago and Toronto — both losses — before he was a healthy scratch for Monday's win over Ottawa. His appearance against the Blackhawks was his first in a Bruins uniform.

In 29 games with the P-Bruins this season, the 29-year-old registered six goals and 17 assists for 23 points.

Wozniewski signed with Boston as a free agent on Sept. 9 after spending last season with the AHL affiliates of the Penguins and the Blues.

After missing two games with an undisclosed injury, Wideman returned to action on Monday.
