It's turning out to be a pretty memorable season for Patrice Bergeron.

Not only is the Bruins center about to embark on one of the most extraordinary hockey games at Fenway Park on New Year's Day, but Bergeron was named to the Team Canada roster for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver on Wednesday.

“I’m pretty happy, pretty excited about it,” the 24-year-old Bergeron told WEEI.com.

And shocked, perhaps? Bergeron wasn't even invited to a training camp this summer, and instead earned his roster spot by tearing it up in the regular season thus far.

“I worked hard, it wasn’t just for the Olympics, but for the Bruins and I’m very happy to get rewarded like that today,” said the B's points leader.

“It was kind of hard to believe today, it was kind of overwhelming a little bit,” Bergeron added. “My family is here for the New Year, so I was real happy to have them here with me. I’m very honored and very happy. It’s a great feeling.”
