Jon Lester to Make Final Spring Start Against Baltimore

The Red Sox play their final road game in Florida this spring when they visit the Baltimore Orioles in Sarasota.

It is the final tune-up for lefty Jon Lester. He is lined up to pitch in the second game of the regular season next Tuesday against the New York Yankees.

Mike Lowell
will be making the start at third base for Boston.

Lester has been getting better with each start and should get in a solid day of work on Wednesday. He allowed just two unearned runs in six innings of a 3-2 win over Toronto on Friday.

Berken is making just his second start of the spring.

Boof Bonser will throw in a minor league game on Saturday in Fort Myers as he attempts to work through a groin issue.

Jeremy Hermida has yet to return from a tight right hamstring suffered Saturday in Sarasota.

Pitcher Koji Uehara is now expected to start the season on the disabled list with a strained left hamstring.

Josh Beckett got 94 pitches in his final spring start earlier in the week. Expect Lester to get about the same as the Red Sox finish their Floridian travel.

They have two games at City of Palms Park before heading to Washington to face the Nationals on Saturday and then opening against the Yankees on Sunday night.
