The report over the weekend that said the Bruins were close to signing 20-year-old forward Joe Colborne appears to be correct, as the Boston Herald reported on Wednesday that the team has inked its 2008 first-round draft pick to a three-year deal.

The report says that Colborne is expected to report to the AHL's Providence Bruins as early as Wednesday.

Colborne is fresh off a 22-goal campaign for the University of Denver, where he played two seasons. In 79 games, Colborne scored 32 goals and registered 40 assists.

Listed at 6-foot-5, 210 pounds, Colborne "is expected to need some seasoning in the AHL before he's ready to step into the NHL," according to the Herald.

The Bruins selected the Calgary, Alberta, native with the 16th overall pick in 2008.
