CLEVELAND — Center Zydrunas Ilgauskas wants to come back to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Ilgauskas, who was traded last month to Washington in the deal for forward Antawn Jamison, has told agent Herb Rudoy to begin negotiations with the Cavaliers on March 22, the first day he can sign with Cleveland.

Rudoy said in an e-mail on Thursday night that Ilgauskas hopes to return to the Cavs and help bring an NBA championship to Cleveland.

Ilgauskas never played for the Wizards. Washington bought out his contract, making him a free agent and clearing him to sign with any other team after 30 days. Despite interest from several playoff contenders, the 34-year-old wants to return to Cavs, the team that drafted him in 1996.
