J.D. Drew Scratched Again From Lineup As Red Sox Face Armando Galarraga

J.D. Drew was originally penciled into the lineup starting in right field but was scratched before the Red Sox open a three-game series with the Detroit Tigers on Friday night.

Drew had missed the last two games of Boston's 10-game road trip with a left hamstring injury. An MRI showed no serious damage and Drew has been cleared to return.

It's a good time for the veteran right fielder to come back. He is a .299 hitter at home and has a home run and a walk in eight plate appearances against Tigers starter Armando Galarraga.

Jed Lowrie, who moved from seventh to second in the lineup the day Drew was a late scratch and responded with a go-ahead two-run double, will make his fifth start at second base.

The Red Sox starters are a combined 10-for-43 (.233) against Galarraga. The only player with any consistent production vs. the righty is Kevin Youkilis, who is 4-for-8 with two home runs.
