After a collision with third baseman Adrian Beltre on June 10 left him sidelined with fractured ribs, outfielder Jeremy Hermida was activated from the disabled list Thursday.

With the activation of Hermida, Red Sox GM Theo Epstein also announced the team optioned outfielder Daniel Nava to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Prior to his activation, Hermida split five rehabilitation games between Double-A Portland and Pawtucket. He batted .211 in his rehab assignment with two doubles and three RBIs. Before his stint on the DL, Hermida batted .217 for the Red Sox with five homers and 27 RBI.

Nava became an instant sensation with Red Sox fans, as he hit a grand slam in his first Major League plate appearance on June 12. The outfielder batted .286 with 10 doubles and 16 RBIs during his 29-game stretch with Boston.
