Darnell McDonald will take the spot of J.D. Drew in the lineup with a left-hander on the mound as the Red Sox prepare for the second game of a three-game set with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Wednesday.

Drew is a career .222 (2-for-9) hitter with three strikeouts against Angels starter Scott Kazmir and will get to rest against a southpaw for the second time in three games. McDonald will be making his 13th start in right field this year.

For the rest of the Red Sox starters, it has been feast or famine vs. Kazmir. Dustin Pedroia, playing in his second game since coming off the disabled list, is 16-for-31 (.516) with seven walks and a remarkable 1.412 OPS against the former Tampa Bay Ray.

Victor Martinez is 7-for-13 (.538) with a homer off Kazmir. Mike Lowell is just 10-for-43 (.233) but four of his 10 hits have been home runs and two have been doubles.

David Ortiz and Adrian Beltre, the fourth and fifth hitters in the Boston lineup, are a combined 12-for-64 (.188) off Kazmir.

Ryan Kalish will be making his third straight start in center field for the Red Sox.
