Jacoby Ellsbury's Tuesday examination by Dr. Lewis Yocum in Southern California didn't yield the results that he would have liked.

Sources have reported to ESPN.com that Yocum found Ellsbury to have another broken rib, meaning he will likely be done fore the year.

Ellsbury incurred the broken rib last Friday in a collision with Rangers pitcher Tommy Hunter, which forced him to fall to the ground at full speed. He is on the DL for the third time this season after playing just nine games since his last stint.

Terry Francona is waiting for more information before coming to any conclusions.

"Nothing official," he told the website. "I just talked to Dr. Tom Gill a minute ago. He said they're planning on talking [Wednesday] morning. I think Ells was grabbing the red-eye home. I think the plan was to meet with him [Wednesday] and get everybody involved and assess what the plan is. Nothing official tonight."
