Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston Lives Up to Picturesque Fall Billing (Photos) Day 1 of the 46th Annual Head of the Charles Regatta took place on Saturday, and it couldn’t have fallen on a more perfect fall day.

Hundreds of thousands of fans lined the 3.2-mile course along the Charles River to watch Saturday’s broad array of events, including mens’ and womens’ championship singles.

There was more going on than just rowing, however. All sorts of food and drink were available for fans, as were an array of entertaining activities.

Even a few mascots showed up.
