Bruins Capitalize on Late Surge Defeating Belfast Giants in Northern Ireland Keep up with the Boston Bruins during their excursion across the pond.

On Saturday, the Bruins matched up against the Belfast Giants in Northern Ireland, where they drew an excited crowd for a great game of hockey. The Giants fans were treated to a surprise early, as their team opened up the scoring early in the second period. The Bruins answered, however, with three goals of their own before the period was up, and notched two more in the third.

Rookie phenom Tyler Seguin led the way with two goals, while Shawn Thornton — playing in front of his mother’s extended family from Belfast — tallied two assists in the victory.

Up next, the Bruins head to the Czech Republic to take on Liberec on Tuesday. They will then open their season on Sunday, Oct.  9, in Prague against the Phoenix Coyotes.
