Fan Forum: Aside From Rajon Rondo, Which Player Can Celtics Least Afford Losing to Long-Term Injury? Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo missed two games over the weekend with an aggravated hamstring injury. And while it’s nothing serious, it provides a stark reminder of how important health is to this Celtics team.

Rondo has evolved into the player the C’s can least afford to lose over an extended period of time. He is, after all, their ultimate facilitator and is proving to be one of the best point guards in the NBA today. Quite simply, he makes them go.

However, this season has seen somewhat of a revival of The Big Three — Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen.

Pierce, in arguably the best shape of his playing career continues to be Boston’s No. 1 offensive threat. He is still one of the best at creating his own shot. He’s averaging a hair under 20 points per game and his field goal percentage is ahead of his career pace.

Garnett not only looks healthy two years removed from knee surgery, but he looks angry. He’s seems to be taking things personally and is using this season to take out pent-up frustration from the past couple of seasons. His rebounds and points are up from last year, as is his field goal percentage.

Also, Allen continues to be one of the game’s best perimeter threats. He’s been able to stretch the court for the Celtics and continues to be an underrated defender, especially in a team-heavy defense like the Celtics’.

Then there are guys like Shaquille O’Neal, whose massive body continues to not only take up space on the defensive end, but helps free up players like Allen for open jumpers when the big guy sets picks.
