Dustin Pedroia Challenges All Critics and Doubters in New Balance Video In case there was any question that Dustin Pedroia is as confident an athlete as you'll ever see, and in case there was any question that he plays with a chip on his shoulder, the Red Sox' second baseman is driving home the point.

"Go ahead, I've never heard it before," he said in a New Balance ad. "Tell me, tell me I'm 5-foot-nothing. Tell me I'll be nothing. Tell me I'm just a nice story. Tell me my first year was a fluke. And my second year was a fluke. That I'm a sentimental All-Star. Three times.

"Tell us what we can't do, tell us who we can't beat. One of us is gonna be right."
