It sounds like Theo Epstein is still trying to make moves this offseason.

According to MLB.com, the Red Sox are close to signing left-handed Japanese pitcher Itsuki Shoda.

The 29-year-old southpaw is a curveball specialist and last season in Taiwan had a 11-5 record with a 2.81 ERA and 116 strikeouts. He won the Pacific League's Rookie of the Year in 2002 with a 9-11 record and 3.45 ERA.

Shoda would join a Red Sox system with plenty of Japanese ties in Daisuke Matsuzaka, Hideki Okajima and Junichi Tazawa.
