Glen Davis Finishes Fourth in NBA Sixth Man of the Year Voting While Lamar Odom took home the big prize Tuesday, earning the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year honors for his efforts with the Lakers this season, Glen Davis had a fine showing himself. The Celtics' 25-year-old big man finished fourth in the voting this season.

Davis, who trailed only Odom, Dallas' Jason Terry and Philadelphia's Thaddeus Young, has been an instrumental part of the Celtics' rotation this season, giving them energy off the bench and helping them close out games with solid fourth-quarter efforts. He's become one of the best bench players in the game.

"Clearly, fourth-best in the league," Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. "So that's pretty good. I'm very happy about it.

"He's done a nice job. Obviously early in the year, he was really good, and then I thought he tapered off a little bit and went up and down. But he's been good. He's just growing up. He's getting better."

The Celtics' bench rotation has been thrown for a loop this season with the free-agent departure of Tony Allen, the retirement of Rasheed Wallace and the injury to Marquis Daniels. Davis has grown into the star of the Celtics' bench in his fourth season, whereas that was largely Allen's role down the stretch in 2010.

"Tony was a different guy, because Tony was your defensive guy," Rivers said. "Baby is more energy, but he gives you stuff on both ends. With Baby, it's just growth. It's not even basketball growth, it's always more maturity and mental growth. Unfortunately, like I've said a hundred times, he has to do it in front of you guys, and that's a little tougher."

Davis has averaged 11.7 points per game this season, fourth on the team, along with 5.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists — all career highs.
