Tyson Chandler Becomes King Leonidas, Leads Mavs to Playoff Glory in ‘300’ Cartoon

Nothing against Tyson Chandler, but If I were going to cast members of the 2010-11 Dallas Mavericks in a remake of 300, I’d probably go with Dirk Nowitzki as King Leonidas.

That’s not how the good people from the Mavs’ viral-video factory saw it.

Despite winning 57 games, nobody seems to have been giving Dallas much of a chance at winning the West — or even at beating no. 6 seed Portland in round one. So what better way to propagate the always dangerous “nobody believes in us” attitude than creating a 300 themed cartoon featuring Chandler delivering Gerard Butler’s famous monologue?

The Mavs may be missing Caron Butler, but they certainly do have a hard-working promotions department. In addition to the 300 movie, Mark Cuban‘s team has released a Jason Terry music video and given out magic playoff tickets to get fans ready for the action.

It’s worked so far, as the Mavs were able to hold off Portland in Game 1 in Dallas — even if Chandler only had four points.
