Vote: What Is the Biggest Reason the Bruins Are in an 0-2 Hole Against the Canadiens?

Nobody saw this coming.

The Bruins were supposed to be a team built for playoff hockey — featuring the league’s best goaltender and an elite defensive unit.

Now, though, the Bruins are in a 2-0 hole, having been outscored 5-1 in two games at the TD Garden. If they don’t turn it around in Montreal, their season will be over.

So, how did this happen? You probably can’t pin it down to a single reason, but some factors must have contributed more than others.

First and foremost, the Bruins have simply not been able to score. Some of that can be attributed to great defense and goaltending from Carey Price, but much of the blame must fall on the B’s.

Their power play has continued to struggle, and the team has seemed to lack ideas at even strength as well. Perhaps, this can be chalked up to the team’s lack of a truly dominant offensive superstar.

Those issues, however, aren’t new news. What are sudden occurrences are the team’s defensive lapses and Tim Thomas‘ average performances.

Add it all up, and the B’s now must do something they have never done: come back from an 0-2 deficit.
