Who Will Be the Amica Pitcher of the Week This Week? Tim Wakefield would obviously love to be in the starting rotation full time. But given that he’s the consummate professional, he goes about doing his job in whatever capacity he’s needed.

However, when he gets his chance to start, Wakefield tries to make the most of it.

That’s exactly what he did this past week when he got a rare start on Sunday night in front of a national audience against the Cubs. The knuckleballer, filling in as injuries have John Lackey and Daisuke Matsuzaka out of the rotation, stymied the Cubs on the way to picking up the win.

He’ll get the chance to pick up another win this week, too, as he’ll get the ball on Friday night in Detroit against the Tigers.

Earlier in the week, Boston starters had good outings in Cleveland. Clay Buchholz allowed two runs on four hits in 7 1/3 innings on Monday while taking 3-2 no-decision. Josh Beckett surrendered only one run on five hits on Tuesday to improve to 4-1 on the season. And Jon Lester pitched six shutout innings on Thursday to pick up his seventh win of the year.
