The Atlanta Braves beat the New York Mets in 10 Innings Thursday, and they did it in quite the bizarre fashion.

The Braves won 9-8 on a walk-off balk in the 10th inning off Mets pitcher D.J. Carrasco. Braves right fielder Jason Heyward was at the plate when Carrasco flinched before he threw his pitch, and Diory Hernandez, the runner on third, was sent home after starting the rally with a two-out double. It was the 13th win in the final at-bat of the season for the Braves.

It was a back-and-forth game all night, where both teams saw leads evaporate before their eyes. The Braves blew a four-run lead in the fifth inning when Mets outfielder Scott Hairston hit a game-tying three-run home run off reliever Scott Proctor. The Mets would later take the lead on a wild pitch.

The Braves roared back in the bottom of the ninth inning off Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez. Pinch hitter Brooks Conrad, who has a penchant for big pinch-hit home runs, tied the game at eight with a blast to right-center field. It was his fourth ninth-inning home run in his Braves career.

Despite the big win, the Braves did suffer some bad news. Chipper Jones, after tying a career-high with five RBIs, left in the eighth inning with a right adductor strain.
