Red Sox outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury picked up his first career American League Player of the Week honor on Monday, making it the third week in a row a member of the Sox has won the award.

Ellsbury went 14-for-30 (.467 average) in six games last week, which included smacking three doubles and one home run. The fifth-year speedster also had four RBIs and 10 runs scored.

The recognition continues what has been a hot streak for Boston. Designated hitter David Ortiz took home the honor for the week ending on June 6, while outfielder Carl Crawford won the award for the week ending on May 30.

During this period, the Sox have risen to claim the best record in the AL and are sporting a nine-game winning streak, the longest current streak in the MLB.

Ellsbury will look to continue a 10-game hitting streak on Tuesday when the Red Sox take on the Rays at Tropicana Field. The 27-year-old leads the AL in stolen bases (24), is second in hits (84) and doubles (21), third in runs scored (49) and sixth in batting average (.318).
