Mike Bolt, One of Hockey's 'Keepers of the Cup,' Brings Stanley Cup to NESN Headquarters When some of us go to work, we put gloves on to protect ourselves. For Mike Bolt, he gloves up to protect the inanimate object he spends most of his time with — the Stanley Cup.

Mike Bolt, One of Hockey's 'Keepers of the Cup,' Brings Stanley Cup to NESN HeadquartersAfter hand-delivering the Cup to NESN headquarters on Wednesday, Bolt sat idly by as fan after fan rubbed their fingerprints all over it.

During last year’s playoffs, Bolt took some time to talk to New York Magazine about the most coveted job in hockey, the Keeper of the Stanley Cup.

Besides going through white gloves quicker than socks, Bolt talked about the extremes the Cup has seen in the past, the measures taken to keep the Cup shining with dignity and even how the Cup is a better chick magnet than John Cusack.

Understandably, there are plenty of hockey fans who are jealous of Bolt because he is paid to spend time with the most famous trophy in sports.

“It might be the most coveted position in hockey, as far as the fans are concerned,” he told the magazine last year. “Fans want this job, and you hear it from players, and, heck, the commissioner, Gary Bettman, has even said, “Oh, I think you have one of the greatest jobs.”
