Red Sox Put Streak of Road Dominance On Line at Seattle It has to end at some time. Or maybe not.

With a loss Sunday in Seattle, the Red Sox would see an end to one of the more impressive road developments in franchise history. With a victory, their streak of winning road trips would extend to eight in a row. At seven, it is already the longest such run the team has ever had.

Boston enters the finale of the trip with a 3-2 record. The last time it failed to finish above .500 on any excursion was the 0-6 disaster in Texas and Cleveland to start the year. Since then, including the current trip, the club has gone 36-17 away from Fenway Park.

To attain winning marks on a repeated basis, one needs incredible consistency. That probably goes without saying, but it's remarkable to look back on the results over the course of the last four months.

The Red Sox have won two out of three in each of their last four road series. They have won five series overall, gaining a sweep in Houston after their last road series loss in Philadelphia, a set in which they still salvaged the finale.

On the trip prior to that, they went 8-1. The one before that, they went 5-2 and outscored their opponents 44-17. The one before that ended with a three-game sweep in Yankee Stadium. A four-game sweep in Anaheim came three weeks before the beating in the Bronx.

When Boston was soundly whipped through the course of those first six games in Texas and Cleveland, it had the look of a team that could not wait to get home. With a win Sunday in Seattle, the sheer dominance on the road will only continue. Or maybe not.
