Though it only frustrated Boston fans at the time, the controversial calls by the officials and miracle shot by Garfield Heard help set the stage for one of the greatest playoff games in NBA history. In Game 5 of the 1976 NBA Finals against the Phoenix Suns, the Celtics had to go through three overtime periods despite appearing to have the game won on many occasions, finally slipping through for a 128-126 victory en route to the franchise’s 13th championship.
