There was some hope toward the end of the week that the NBA owners and players association would come to terms on a new deal and perhaps end the lockout. However, it starting to sound like the opposite has happened.

Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Friday afternoon that talks have at least temporarily fallen apart, and as a result, the league is expected to cancel its games through Nov. 30.

The apparent hold-up continues to be over basketball-related income, or BRI. ESPN.com points out that the owners were hoping for a 50-50 split of the BRI, while the players are insisting that they get 52.5 percent. Under the previous deal, the players got 57 percent of that number.
