When UCLA's Pauley Pavilion reopens in 2012 after undergoing renovations, John Wooden, the school's legendary basketball coach, will be forever remembered.

The Bruins will honor Wooden, who coached the school's men's basketball program to 10 national championships, by erecting a statue of him, UCLA athletic director Dan Guerrero announced Tuesday.

Sculpting the statue will be Blair Buswell, who is the head sculptor at the Pro Football Hall of Fame and has created multiple busts of former NFL players.

The statue will stand on the north side of the building along Bruin Walk.

The floor inside Pauley Pavilion is named Nell and John Wooden Court, after the coach and his wife. Wooden coached the Bruins for 27 seasons to a record of 620-147, including a 149-2 record inside Pauley Pavilion.

Wooden died of natural causes on Jun. 4, 2010.
