Allen Iverson Makes Triumphant Return to Philadelphia, Celtics Could Have Used Him in Game 6

Allen Iverson was in the building for Game 6 in Philadelphia on Wednesday night, and by the end of the night, the Celtics may have been wondering if A.I. would have been willing to put on the green.

Celtics fans who grew up admiring and respecting Iverson from afar may have seen his return to Philly as the only highlight of the evening, as recalling Iverson's playing days was certainly better than anything the C's showed on the court.

The 76ers were able to force a Game 7 with a stifling defensive effort that made the Celtics offense look abominable at best. Boston was so bad, in fact, it's only kind of a tongue-in-cheek statement to say that they could have used Iverson out there.

"I'm not using the word [retirement]," Iverson told ESPN during the game. "I wanna play basketball so bad."

And who knows? Maybe he would have been inspired with Celtics assistant coach Tyronn Lue sitting behind the C's bench. After all, they do have something of a history together.

Check out video of Iverson returning to Philly to present the game ball prior to Game 6.

Quote of the Day

"Amazing effort by a group of fabulous professionals who played through a lot of adversity – time zones, weather, travel. They did one heck of a job winning the last two series. Going home at .500 is a feather in their cap."
–Bobby Valentine is happy that his team is .500 on May 24.
