Vote: Will Kevin Youkilis or Will Middlebrooks Have the Better MLB Career? After nine seasons, Kevin Youkilis' tenure in Boston came to a close Sunday as he was traded to the Chicago White Sox for Brent Lillibridge and Zach Stewart.

That move cleared the way for Will Middlebrooks to become the Red Sox' everyday third baseman. The only question remaining is whether Middlebrooks will fulfill the Red Sox' hopes at third.

Youkilis put together a solid resume in Boston, winning the World Series in 2004, his rookie year, after making 72 appearances during the season in mostly a reserve role. He became a full-time starter in 2006 and won a second World Series ring the following year. Youkilis put together his best stretch from 2008-2010, hitting .308 with a .404 on-base percentage and averaging 25 home runs and 90 RBIs in helping the Sox to two playoff berths.

Youk also made three All-Star teams during his time in Boston and boasts a career line of .287 batting average, .388 OBP, 133 home runs and 564 RBIs. He's seen his form begin to slip recently while battling injuries, hitting just .233 with a .315 OBP in 42 games this season.

Middlebrooks has been in the big leagues for less than two months, but he's already shown the potential for greatness. The 23-year-old has hit .326 with nine home runs and 34 RBIs, and while he does not appear to have Youkilis' ability to draw walks — few players do — he offers a bit more pop at the plate than his predecessor.

Recently, Middlebrooks has been on a tear, going 10-for-16 with three homers and 10 RBIs over his past six games. Although he won't remain that hot forever, his future at the major league level appears to be bright.

So, which one of these players will have the better resume when it's all over?
