Wayne Gretzky Statue Vandalized One Day After Unveiling in Hall of Famer’s Hometown (Photos)

Apparently, there are some folks in Brantford, Ontario, who aren’t too fond of The Great One.

A statue unveiled Sunday in Wayne Gretzky‘s honor was vandalized with blue spray paint just one day later. Brantford is Gretzky’s hometown, and the Hall of Famer was on hand Sunday for the grand opening of the new Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre.

The ceremony included the presentation of a pair of monuments dedicated to Brantford’s greatest son — one of Gretzky holding the Stanley Cup in an Oilers uniform and another of him as a boy standing beside his parents.

Check out both the unveiling and the cleanup in the photos below.
