Wednesday was a bad, bad day in Russia.

The Russian men’s hockey team was expected to contend for a medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics, especially with the games being held on home soil. Finland crushed those dreams in the quarterfinals, though, beating Russia 3-1 to knock the host nation out of the tournament.

The Moscow News, Russia’s oldest English-language newspaper, live-tweeted the game, capturing every emotion of the Russian people as they saw their gold medal chances slip away.
