Minnesota Wild goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov made one fan’s night Wednesday, but he did it at the expense of the win column.

Bryzgalov had yet to lose a game in regulation with the Wild since coming over in a trade, but that streak ended in a 5-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday night — coincidentally or not right after Bryzgalov handed his battle-tested goalie stick to a fan before the game.

The girl was brought to tears by Bryzgalov’s gesture, as were plenty of others watching.

More tears — of a different kind — might be in order if Bryzgalov and the Wild can’t turn things around.
