David Ortiz Gets Start At First For Red Sox Vs. Braves In Interleague Play

David Ortiz, Andres TorresDavid Ortiz will have to flash a little leather if the Boston Red Sox hope to snap their 10-game losing streak on Memorial Day.

The everyday designated hitter will get the start at first base Monday afternoon as the Red Sox take on the Atlanta Braves to kick off a three-game interleague series at Turner Field.

The Sox slugger has yet to play in the field in 2014.

On the other end of the spectrum, starting pitcher Clay Buchholz will test his bat for the first time this season as he bats ninth in Monday’s order. Buchholz has one hit in four plate appearances over his eight-year career, with his most recent at-bat coming against the Miami Marlins on June 12, 2012.

The rest of the Sox’s lineup remains relatively unchanged from Sunday, with Jonny Gomes getting the start in right field after hitting a pinch-hit, three-run homer in an 8-5 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.
